AJ was the show’s inaugural guest back in 2002.</strong><br /><br /><a href="http://www.tnapics.com/albums/superstars/aj/3/normal_23.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px;" src="http://www.tnapics.com/albums/superstars/aj/3/normal_23.jpg" border="0" alt="AJ Styles- Mr TNA" /></a> AJ joined Powerslam Radio hosts Vikram Sangar & Lee "Freaky" Burton on their Christmas Eve special.<br /><br />AJ spoke briefly about Christmas and how he was yet to find a present for his wife. <br /><br />AJ described fatherhood as being "awesome" and went onto to describe some of the sleepless nights he’s been having after the birth of his son.<br /><br />When asked whether his son would ever follow in his father’s footsteps and become a wrestler- AJ said he would only consider training his son "after he has finished college and has his degree."<br /><br />AJ recalled the personal changes he has experienced with TNA. He says he gets noticed a lot more now by fans in his day-to-day life. AJ and the hosts exchanged stories about meeting famous people as fans. Vik described following Dean Malenko around a mall for 20 minutes in Canada trying to get his autograph. AJ says similar things have happened to him and sometimes wished fans would just come up to him and ask for an autograph instead of staring at him for ages.<br /><br /><a href="http://my.tele2.ee/wrestling/sting3.jpg"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px;" src="http://my.tele2.ee/wrestling/sting3.jpg" border="0" alt="Sting set for action in TNA" /></a> AJ was asked specifically about the arrival of Christian Cage and Sting. AJ said the most important thing is that TNA gets more viewers and the new talent will help bring that. He described himself as being a "team player" and doing whatever was best for the company. AJ however said TNA must not forget "where they came from" and continue to build the X-Division. He said fans watch TNA for the X-Division and he hopes that the arrival of Christian and Sting does not affect the emphasis given to that division in any way.<br /><br />Co-host Lee asked AJ whether any of the roster resented the WWE guys for coming in and taking their spots- especially since many of them have helped build TNA from the ground up. AJ conceded "That’s gonna happen" but the TNA writers should help expand the characters of the existing guys. He said fans already know what Christian and Sting can offer but it would be beneficial for TNA if the characters of "Chris Sabin, Sonjay Dutt and Alex Shelley" for example were expanded and given more mic time.<br /><br />AJ was asked whether TNA was really competing with the WWE or whether it was merely an alternative. AJ said TNA are definitely competing. He went onto to explain the signings of The Dudleys, Christian etc showed that they meant business and said "the only thing we are missing is money." He said he understands TNA have lost millions, but they are all aiming to get those millions back.<br /><br />AJ talked about the Spike TV deal. He said although Impact’s not on at the best time, at least "we’re on a network that cares about us." He also stated "word of mouth" as probably the biggest thing that will get fans watching the TNA product. AJ said he could ultimately see TNA appearing on prime-time, "…something like Tuesday at 8pm would be a lot better…" he commented.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.tnapics.com/albums/superstars/aj/normal_71.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px;" src="http://www.tnapics.com/albums/superstars/aj/normal_71.jpg" border="0" alt="AJ with the X-Division Title" /></a> AJ was asked by Vik which he thought was the more credible in the eyes of the fans- the X-Division or TNA’s World Title. AJ personally felt "It’s the X-division…however the only guys who don’t see that are the office…" AJ felt that fans generally ordered the PPV to watch the X-division matches with exception of main events involving "the likes of Abyss or barbed wire matches." He said "it’s hard not to love the X-division…and the WWE doesn’t even have anything close…"<br /><br />AJ was asked about the impact Samoa Joe has made in TNA. AJ said "it’s another great example of the X-Division" and explained how he was trying to bring Joe in for a long time but the office did not want to know. Now that Joe has made such a huge impression, AJ is almost left saying "I told you so…now if only you listened to me in the first place…"<br /><br />AJ said there had been "serious talk" about TNA having house shows and PPV’s in different cities. He explained that the move had to make sense financially before going ahead with it.<br /><br />Vik asked AJ about morale in the TNA locker room. AJ said everyone is still hungry for success in TNA but conceded many of the guys are "confused as to where our characters are going with all the WWE guys coming in and taking spots." He said "we are seeing a lot of Jeff Jarrett on TV which is confusing sometimes." AJ conceded "I don’t know how to run the business" but hoped the office would produce something great out of all this for everyone concerned.<br /><br />AJ was asked about his own relationship with the TNA office. He said he feels he "can talk to them at any time" but wished he had more of a "creative input" into the product. He explained "there are five guys on the booking committee with Jeff Jarrett having the ultimate decision." AJ described Jeff’s position as being "tough" and personally felt that Jeff should leave the booking up to the other guys, merely to lighten the workload Jeff has -and to concentrate on being a performer.<br /><br />AJ spoke about the likes of Jerry Lynn and Christopher Daniels having a great influence on his career. He said he has learned a lot from them and often tries to take in every comment he receives- unless it’s from Raven, "in which case it goes in one ear and out the other..." AJ said jokingly.<br /><br />AJ was asked about wrestling in the UK and he described the British fans as "being the best" and said it’s "always a pleasure to wrestle there."<br /><br />AJ was asked about 1PW and his upcoming booking in the United Kingdom where he performs at the huge double-header in January entitled "No Turning Back" at the Doncaster Dome. He said 1PW have been very professional and he enjoyed being a part of their first show a few months ago.<br /><br />AJ spoke about the 4-way match where he is scheduled to face Christopher Daniels, Samoa Joe and Charlie Haas on the first night. AJ said this would be the first time he would be in the ring with Charlie and would be interested to see what type of high impact moves he can do. He said Haas would be the unknown quantity in the match as his knows what to expect from the other TNA combatants.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.tnapics.com/albums/superstars/aj/aj2/normal_ajstyles106.jpg"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px;" src="http://www.tnapics.com/albums/superstars/aj/aj2/normal_ajstyles106.jpg" border="0" alt="AJ Fights Jeff Jarrett" /></a> AJ was also asked about his second match at 1PW’s No Turning Back where he is scheduled to face "the boss" Jeff Jarrett the following day. He said Jarrett has been very lucky in his past meetings and he would try to resort to cheating if needed to get the victory over Jarrett and proceed in 1PW’s quest to crown their first champion.<br /><br />AJ was also asked to clear up the confusion regarding his appearance for Vince Russo’s Ring of Glory promotion and not appearing for Ring of Honor last weekend. AJ said he had "Ring of Glory on the Friday and Ring of Honor on the Saturday" and "had tried to get out of doing both" as he had stitches in his face and the opening of the wound would result in him having plastic surgery. Vince Russo however managed to convince him that wrestling for Ring of Glory would be much easier for him to do as he would be wrestling Abyss; a guy who he knows is safe in the ring and who had stitches himself. He said in the end they barely done ten minutes. He wanted to let the ROH fans know it’s not because he didn’t want to be there, it’s simply because he didn’t want to take the risk of being hit in the face and having to go through plastic surgery. He says he "loves Ring of Honor and has the utmost respect for it and can’t wait to go back."<br /><br /><em>In the full interview, Vik asked some frank questions about AJ’s contract situation and possibly signing with the WWE. He was one of my favourite cruiserweights in WCW. My brother and I were real hardcore fans of Monday Nitro and Thunder- we always watched it over WWF/E. Eddie provided us with some classic matches and hillarious moments over the years. Everytime I think of the LWO, it puts a huge smile on my face.<br /><br />My fondest memory of all though stems back a few years to British Wrestling's Revival show in 2002 at Crystal Palace. Eddie at this point had hit rock bottom in life. He had been fired by the WWE, had become seperated from his wife and had been addicted to prescription drugs and alcohol. When he arrived in England, he was now clean and was beginning the long road back, which in his mind, would hopefully lead to getting his job back with the WWE. Crystal Palace was a long, long way from where I would eventually meet him next.<br /><br />I was assigned the role of being Eddie Guerrero's cameraman for the night. When fans wanted an "official" photo with Eddie, I was the guy who took all of them...I must have taken hundreds that night. He was a class act throughout and we got chatting quite a bit during each photograph.<br /><br />I remember asking him about WCW and a little bit about his recovery from his "addiction" - I remember he said he was only here "through the grace of God" and to me, he seemed thankful that he had been given almost a "second chance" in life.<br /><br />Even after taking hundreds of photos that night and even when everyone was in a rush to get the show running- he still took the time to take one last photo with me, which I still have on my wall to this day.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.wwe.com/superstars/smackdown/eddieguerrero/photos1/32.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px;" src="http://www.wwe.com/superstars/smackdown/eddieguerrero/photos1/32.jpg" border="0" alt="Eddie At His Charming Best" /></a> Last year I was fortunate enough to go to New York for WrestleMania XX. I met Eddie once again at the Hall of Fame dinner- a special event commemorating wrestlers of a bygone age.<br /><br />He looked up at me...pointed...and said something I will never forget - "Hey...You look familiar Homes..." in the same sly latino voice he uses on-screen.<br /><br />As I shook his hand, I mentioned I was from the UK and he suddenly recalled me from the Revival show, without any prompting whatsoever.<br /><br />That's the Eddie Guerrero I will remember the most...not only as the wrestler who gave so much to the business...but as the man who recalled something so insignificant as meeting a fan years before.<br /><br />The following night, Eddie achieved his life long dream and won at Wrestlemania, retaining the WWE World Championship. He cried in the middle of the ring as his re-united wife and 3 daughters watched from their ringside seat.<br /><br />I stood along with 20,000 others and gave him a standing ovation in Madison Square Garden in New York. Eddie had finally reached the pinnacle of his wrestling career. After hitting rock bottom, no one could have forseen just how Eddie picked up his life again and reached not only the top of his profession, but his personal life too.<br /><a href="http://www.wwe.com/content/media/images/377012/455166"><img style="float:right; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px;" src="http://www.wwe.com/content/media/images/377012/455166" border="0" alt="Eddie Captured The Gold at MSG in NY" /></a><br />His catchphrase was all about "Lying, cheating and stealing" - but in truth, he was never really the bad guy. He talked openly about his problems with drugs and alcohol in the hope it would help others in the same situation. He talked briefly about his amateur career and how he wrestled from 7th Grade up to college.<br /><br />- The Von Erichs, Chris Adams, Arn Anderson and the British Bulldog were just some his idols when he was growing up as a fan of wrestling.<br /><br />- Charlie spoke of his time at Iron Mike Sharpe's wrestling school. He said he always wanted to be pro-wrestler and was dedicated to achieving his dream.<br /><br />- Charlie spoke of the 4 Years on the indy scene he spent with his brother Russ. Jim Kettner and Kevin Kelly polished them up and by Word of Mouth, they were brought to the WWE for Dark matches. After their fourth dark match they got signed up to a developmental deal.<br /><br />- Charlie talked about his WWE development deal and how he was there at the same time as Brock Lesnar, Shelton Benjamin, John Cena and Batista for almost 3 years across 3 different territories. Haas also talked about how he believes some of the guys now get brought up far too quickly from the developmental deals compared to the past and said not all the guys are ready to take that huge step.<br /><br />- Charlie talked about his brother's death and said although it was a very difficult and confusing time, Russ's untimely passing made him push even harder to achieve his dream of making it in the wrestling business. He used Russ's memory as an inspiration to push for the goals they had both shared and felt Russ would have done the same thing had the situation been reveresed.<br /><br />- Charlie talked about Team Angle and how he and Shelton were brought in as "themselves" without any gimmicks. He described it has a great opportunity and said he and Shelton both felt they could all the way and actually become one of the "World's greatest tag-teams".<br /><br />- Charlie said the WWE ended Team Angle too quickly as they wanted singles wrestlers rather than tag-teams. He criticised the "makeshift" tag-teams that are doing the rounds these days and said the WWE does not devote as much time to tag-team wrestling as they once did in the past.<br /><br />- Charlie talked about his first tag-team title victory with Shelton Benjamin and said it was a "dream come true" and spoke of how he finally achieved the dream him and his brother had first set out to achieve many years before.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.obsessedwithwrestling.com/pictures/t/teamangle/05.jpg"><img style="float:right; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px;" src="http://www.obsessedwithwrestling.com/pictures/t/teamangle/05.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a><br />- Charlie said he and Shelton hadnt been told in advance they were going to be split, mainly due to an overseas tour. He described it as a real "shock" and wondered where the WWE were going to go with this.<br /><br />- He said the writers did not have any ideas for him and it was more of a case of him try to find his own storylines with the likes of RVD, Rico, Dawn Marie and Hardcore Holly and for the writers to see what fitted.<br /><br />- Charlie talked about his release and said the WWE were trying to find entertainers with gimmicks rather than guys who could actually wrestle. He spoke about the booking team at the time and said it may have been a different story had some of the writers actually stepped into a wrestling ring.<br /><br />- Charlie spoke well of Dusty Rhodes' recent addition to the WWE's writing team and said it was a good move to have a guy who understands the wrestlers perspective and has himself wrestled at a very high level. He also said that some of the WWE agents should have more of an input into what goes on creatively as well.<br /><br />- Charlie spoke very highly of Paul Heyman and said he has a "brilliant mind" and put much of his own character's success down to Paul's input and the working relationship he had with him.<br /><br />- Charlie spoke about some of the guys he would have loved to have wrestled in the WWE.<br /><br />- Charlie recalled some of his best matches in the WWE and spoke about Vengeance 2003 where he and Shelton teamed up against Rey Mysterio and Kidman - a match which he described as "almost perfect"<br /><br />- Charlie spoke highly of New Japan and said it was always an ambition of his to wrestle in the Tokyo Dome/<br /><br />- Charlie recalled how he broke his tooth taking a clothesline from hell from JBL. He said that you really got to take the move hard as its such a great finisher.<br /><br />- Charlie spoke of his ambitions and said he wanted to take the singles route for now as he's acomplished many things as a Tag-Team wrestler. He said he was excited about New Japan and hoped it could be a long-term option. Charlie refused to rule out the possibility of going with TNA or possibly back with the WWE in the future.<br /><br />- Charlie said he felt Europe and Japan were the places to be for Wrestling right now.
